It’s been another busy year race wise, particularly at the back end of the year where I raced a whopping 10 times in 14 weeks. Once again I PB’d at every distance I entered, including adding a new distance in the 1500m to my list.
I didn’t run a marathon, even though I was tempted to run one to on the back of a few long runs, I decided to give myself a better chance at a decent time by entered in the Shakespeare Race Track marathon in March next year. This, along with another half marathon before the end of March should cement the Penny Lane club championship for me – I should have got off my ar*e and won it last year because with the nature of the championship I only had to run two 10 mile races at a canter and I’d have won. This season I need to do a marathon but I should be able to nail the necessary time and join the pantheon of great winners :0)
I’ve even improved in the cross country thanks to some tweaking in my training and tactics – Penny Lane wont win the team prize but once again we’ve showed with our top runners out we’re a match for any of the other teams.
Highlights of the year were breaking 17 mins for the 1st time at Christelton and smashing my 10 abd ½ marathon mile pb’s at Blackpool. I was disappointed not to get under 35 for 10k but I still pb’d and know I’m moving in the right direction, just a shame I’m getting older!
Goals for 2014 are as follows:
1. Win Penny Lane club championship
2. Sub 2.45 Marathon
3. Sub 76 Half Marathon
4. Sub 58 10 mile
5. Sub 35 10k
6. Sub 28 5 mile
7. Sub 16.30 5k
8. Sub 9.30 3k
9. Sub 4.45 mile
10. Sub 4.25 1500m
11. Sub 2.10 800m
Dream Big Win Big!
I’d like to thank all the lads and lasses I’ve trained with over the year, all the hard work my club puts into running and all the race organizers who make it possible for me and others to live the dream, so to speak!
All the best for 2104, 1st race back is the Four Villages Half Marathon, cheers for reading |
