Another week down, and im still running pain free of injuries- now just have the pains of hard training and racing! This week i two choices easy week and hit the bmc 3km at watford hard, or get some of the missed workouts done and hit watford abit tired. I chose the latter as i needed some key sessions and also wanted to really test the achilles to see if it would put up with the level of training needed to run fast.
After an easy day monday with the travel back from new york, i hit a normal 5miler with dog on tuesday morning. Evening was 6 x 800m off 2mins rec, which with the really bad wind on the track i was hoping 2:10's. so was happy to run 2:07's but knew this session would stay in my legs a while after the missed training over the last few weeks. Ran a steady 6 the next morning and hit first speed session of summer that evening with 10 x 100m walks back. Again windy but ok for sprints! average was 12.3 off rollling with last 2 sub 12's which is pleasing off all the longer stuff. Thursday morning was a trek to swansea track as cardiff's is not open till 5pm, so i hit 20 x 200m off 30secs. it was one of those sessions were after 5 i felt i had done 15! so i decided on 10- got to 10 and thought i will do 15, and got there and thought- might as well do the lot! weather was bad and its not a quick track but still averaged 29's so happy enough. Easy day friday and raced on the saturday in watford 2:41/5:23 and was 7:03/4 at bell but wheels had gone (8:10 end times) and i was just in training mode at end off big week, but achilles felt great and needed the sessions and the race- so moves me on for next few weeks getting ready to hit 1500's hard!!!
